The permanent exhibits at the Design Museum

Here's a very old LEGO house. You don't see trees like that nowadays.

And this dear old radio looks good enough to eat.

This is the coackroach piano. Bet it nibbles your fingers
with its pearly whites if you get too close.

This time lapse photo of a little sausage dog shows how fast
their tiny legs have to move to keep up! What a waggy tail!

Now here's a chair for a wide bottom.
Only legs that thin are likely to give way - like Bambi on ice. 

You wouldn't freeze even during a cold Danish winter
with furnishings as hot as this.

And then we come to the recycled chairs made out of newspapers.
No smoking around here, that's for sure.Not easy to dust, so that's a good excuse.

We loved these policemen in uniform.
And the next photo might be a bit shocking...

ART LOVERS READ ON...

You can't miss this strapping chappie on the wall.
The inscription says something like 'The founder of the Danish Museum for Design' and you can't help thinking what a free-spirited fellow he was until you realise the founder is the Stalin-looking guy at the bottom (with just his head showing). Makes a change from all the ladies, anyway, doesn't it. 
A good line for a song...
You can keep your hat on! 

The Museum of Design on Bredgade

Footloose and fancy free in the play zones,
so you'll have to take your shoes off.

Even adults can feel tiny, swinging their legs, on a chair like this.  

A table with six legs?

And here's the first play zone.

Jake had fun building a tower.

But the thing with things that go up is...

...that at some point they fall over and bop you on the head.

Further into the exhibition, you'll find this classroom.
Imagine sitting on these instead of chairs.
Drop off and you'll drop off.

Monkeying around is always fun. 

Rest In Pieces? Not for long!

If you like Thomas the Tank En gine, you'll enjoy playing
with these kiddy-height trains.
Ready, train set, go!

Now we come to the slightly odd toys. Model making out of fish bones?
Well that's certainly an idea. 

And this seal suit would be perfect for kiddies who bite thair nails.

There's plenty to see.

And of course, the good old Trip Trap chair is there.

Jake thought it was interesting making his own animated film
and it was. Until a little girl swiped his main character and
muscled in on his action.
Oh well. It added a touch of drama :o)

More doll's house features

Clever Jake found new uses for a bicycle light, yogurt pot,
green firework top (that was still on the lawn) and more beads!

He even made a knife and fork!

Together, Johanne and Jake designed a cooker with another
bike light inside it and four hob bits (no not hobbits). The top opened up too.
See the extractor fan up top? But what is that on the right? 

Yes, it's a fridge! Spot the carrot made of beads?

And the garden is another sight for beady eyes!

Glue guns are fabulous fun but be careful and stick to the safety rules:

1. Work on a layer of newspaper

2. Check who's sitting beside you and how far their elbows stick out before you start

3. Have an adult nearby

4. If you do get caught out, cold water takes away the sting or frozen peas are good. Have them on hand. Literally 

Dolls' House from scraps

This is our friend Johanne, who comes to play now and then.
As you can see, we had a lot of fun designing a dolls' house recently.

Here, Johanne is sticking the 'wallpaper' on the shoeboxes. It was wrapping paper really.
Yes, we made a lovely mess, but who cares?
And yes, the glue gun should have been on the
newspaper not where I could tread on it.

THE BATHROOM

Here you can see how Jake used a toothpaste cap and some little blue
beads to make a shower. I made the mirror from a curtain ring and some silver paper.
Sorry about the date on the photos. I deleted all the pictures on
my camera accidentally :o(. Luckily Jake had some on his phone.

Johanne drew the water in the noodle bath tub and designed the
mini toilet roll holder and towel rack from a drinking straw, which Jake built for her.
Jake designed the toilet and sink suite from a Kinder-egg-style container and the rest of the straw.

HANDY WHEELCHAIR 

Jake made a wheelchair like Johanne's for her dolls.
Can you spot to two Pringles caps?

The axle is made of a New Year's tooty horn,
a mushroom container and a matchbox.

The inside of the matcbox acts like a brake if you slide it down.
Very clever!

PROPER WINDOW

Well, almost, except the glass is cut from a plastic
tomato punnet. But it's see-through and safer.
The curtains are cut from an old sock and the curtain rail was once a kebab stick.

This post is now about as long as I've got because today Jake
came home from a trip to Cost Rica with his dad and big brothers so it's time for a cuddle.
Next time we'll show you lots more...including the garden, table and food, kitchen and other miniature furniture to look forward to...

On safari in Oslo with DFDS

Remember we took a DFDS ferry trip to Oslo
back in November?

And it was a roaring success?
Well, now that my computer is back from the menders,
you can come on safari with us! 

You'll find this smashing lion outside a hotel
not far from the harbour.

And some pretty strange beasts at the Natural History Museum.
This one looked pretty surprised to see us.

It was crystal clear this was worth a photo.

And upstairs we found dinos.

BIG ONES!

And TALL skinny ones. No not even skin.
(Wasn't she on the cover of Vogue last week?)

The head bone's connected to the neck bone
and the neck bone's connected to...
a song so long that we'd
all have conked out by the last verse!

We had a great time playing with the interactive
toys and the proper toys. Plenty of picture books too.

And after a couple of very interesting hours,
as we were leaving, we passed these happy chappies.

Where are they all trotting off to?
Not sure, but perhaps it's time for
tea, Rex!
