Fun stuff for kids and parents

Tried and tested on willing guinea piglets

This optimistic, self-employed writer, translator, columnist and mum knows that with kids, a dash of charm and a good giggle beat fear of failure every time.

So here are some out-of-the-box ideas to keep kids and parents happy for hours...

Guitar lessons pay off!

If your teenagers need motivation to keep practising their chords...

...see you at STORE VEGA for the Danish final of the
worldwide

EMERGENZA festival

for unsigned and up-coming bands

FULD EFFEKT
(Alex Dyrbye, Claus Valdorff Thomsen, Zac Dyrbye and their friend Berry P)
WILL BE PLAYING
So I'd better start practising that special hip-hop sign.

The doors open at 18.30 but my lads are on last at midnight.

The band voted best by the crowd

and panel of professional judges will be off to Sweden next.

Hope it's Fuld Effekt but... may the best band win!
All the musicians have had awesome fun being part of this terrific experience
and the audience of ALL ages will remember it for ever.

Round 1 at Rust was a blast! Round 2 at Lille Vega rocked the house!
Join us at the final.

And who knows... for an entry fee of DKK 500, it could be
your talented offspring up there on stage playing their sockets off next time around!
The cool T-shirts the guys wore for semi-final
were sponsored by Westphal clothing company.
Thank you Westphal
And their guitars were sponsored by their dad ;o)
I lend them my car - the Green Lightning.
But if Suzuki is watching, we wouldn't say no :o)

Easter egg decorations

Squishy fun

For kids of all ages

You will need:
Wallpaper paste (powder form keeps longer)
Round balloons
A big bowl
Various serviettes - old ones are fine - even ones with dribbles on
String or ribbon

Oh and scissors...

Mix water with the wallpaper powder to make the paste.

We made ours far too thick to start with.
Like horrible lumpy porridge.

No matter how much Laura stirred...

...her sticky stick couldn't make it smooth.
So I had to put down the camera and mulch it with my fists.

At this point we weren't quite sure...

But the mulching and adding more water helped...

...and soon we were slapping on the glue.

Lumps and all.
Tearing up the serviettes.

Dipping them in the glue...

...to get them nice and sticky...

...and carefully gluing them onto the balloons we'd already blown up.
Make sure you go up round the top of the balloon just under the knot.

They go darker as the glue seeps in but lighten up when the dry later.

This one with hyacinths looked good.

Laura liked sunflowers.

Here are three hanging up to dry. Each one has about five
layers of overlapping serviette pieces.

Then we washed our hands and watched the kids' Danish Song Contest on TV.

Next day, we hung them from the beams.

The hyacinth one...

...the classic blue and white one...

...the cool pink one...

...and the one with chickens on it. You can pop the balloons when the eggs are nice and dry and cut two little holes and hang them up or just leave the balloons inside.
But it made a nice funny noise when we popped a balloon :o)
Then it was time for some tea.
Pink Bunny is my oldest toy. I don't think I ever decided if he or she
was a boy or girl. And he/she doesn't mind.
Bruno and Blanche certainly don't mind. And neither does little lamb.
Yes, well spotted...the teapot lid doesn't match. Jakob has killed several teapots
by taking them outside and accidentally swiping them off tables with various power tools cables
or hosepipes. He has notched up three mugs already this year too.

Oh well, worse things happen at sea ;o).

Who's that old trout....

....with my husband???

Yes, Jakob caught a lovely trout while fishing off Knuds Hoved.

He also caught the sun!

Always use sun screen if the weather is nice!
