Make your own Corky the intrepid zip wire adventurer

This is Corky...like I used to make when I was a kid.

      You'll need:

  • A cork
  • A wire champagne holder thingy (nerdy technical term there)
  • Matchsticks
  • A glue gun
  • Wool scraps
  • A black felt tip
  • A long piece of string
Draw a face on the cork.

Corky can be a girl.

Cut small lengths (shorts :o) of wool for hair.
Glue them on with a parting in the middle if you like.

Either glue the matchstick arms and legs on or poke them into holes
you make with a sharpish skewer (get an adult to this perhaps).

And this is what he looks like.
Seat him in the wire cork holder,
twist a loop in the back of it, poke a length of string through
the loop and stretch the string between two trees, top to bottom,
so there's a steep angle on the string.

Give him a minute to load up... and watch Corky go!

Hanging about at Til Tops

No one can call me a boring mum after this!

Whoah... we had GREAT fun. We can thoroughly recommend a trip to

our favourite climbing park near Hornbæk
Klosterrisvej 4, 3100 Hornbæk
Call first to make a reservation: +45 30 74 09 44

The other park is at: Frederiksdal, Hummeltoftevej 179, 2830 Virum, +45 60 21 34 55

Here's Line with her safety gear.
Step this way...
Harness up.

And off we go!
Safety first. Line showed us how to clip on.

Like this and you're ready to let yourself go on the zip wire.

Line showed us how to always clip on twi different safety wires for maximum security.
Jake's turn. Starting off slowly.
Jake didn't take any photos of me practising on the kiddy route for  under sevens so this is a photo of Jake on the Green route :o)

Cool.

Clip on and off you go.

Keep going onwards and upwards.

Clippety clip.

And here's the reward...a HUGE zip wire that's incredible fun.

Then more treetop walkways.
With the blocks getting further apart.

And swinging a bit more each time.
And ANOTHER wonderful zip wire...and all the time you can hear other visitors yelling 'weeeeeee' in the background on various parts of the park.

Oooh. Wait for me Jake!
And here's the trapeze. Hold on tight and launch yourself off. Well maybe next time we come.

Like something out of  Harry Potter the way he disappears into thin air...and sideways, too!

Make your own zip wire stunt guy

Next week we'll show you the aerial runway we made for a little man Jake made out of a cork when we got home!
